Book Fair venues
Our main venue is at Coniston - for details of Coniston book fair please click on link to the left.
Coniston Book fair
Coniston Institute is situated in Coniston village next to the Ruskin Museum.
The institute was designed by John Ruskin for the free education of the Coniston copper miners - many of
whom could not read & write.
Amongst many other things Ruskin was a pioneer of free education for the masses, indeed if it wasn't for
Ruskin & such Victorians like him, we probably wouldn't be selling books & you wouldn't be buying them.
So we feel this is a very fitting venue for a book fair.
The Institute on Yewdale Road is very easy to find - there is disabled access & toilets - admission is free -
and we are open from 10:30am to 5:30pm.
Literate dogs on leads are welcome too!
Ravenglass book fair -
We hold book fairs at Ravenglass throughout the year - you will find us at Muncaster Parish Hall,
(which is in Ravenglass village), situated on the sea front as you drive into the village -
you can park outside, or in the main village car park.
There is disabled access into this hall.
Ravenglass is situated on the West Cumbrian coast, with a fascinating history - a Roman
Port, and a haven for smugglers & much more !
You can also visit Muncaster castle & take a trip on the Ravenglass & Eskdale miniature railway,
and you are within easy travelling distance of Wastwater & Hardknott Roman Fort !
Hawkshead book fair -
Held in the market hall in Hawkshead Square. Parking is in the main car park as you enter village.
There is Disabled access & toilets.
Explore the wonderfully preserved village, where Wordsworth attended Hawkshead Grammer School -
(open to visitors, you can see his desk which he carved his initials into).
The village is also famous, as Beatrix Potter's local village, where she married the solicitor, and was the setting for many of her book illustrations.
Heron Corn Mill Beetham nr Milnthorpe -
A very unusual setting for book fair - we love it!
The mill has its own car park.
An ancient Corn Mill, open to visitors with working water wheel at Beetham near Milnthorpe.
Fantastic place to visit - and many very interesting events are held there.
